The Vancouver Canucks were on the attack in the Maple Leafs zone when Jordie Benn attempted a shot from the blue-line only to nail his teammate, Nils Höglander, in the face with the puck.

The play was blown dead instantly and Nils headed for the bench holding his forehead, while wiping away the red stuff. However, he caught a break by taking the shot right in the visor as he was able to get patched up and return to the game.

But the rest of the night would favor the Toronto Maple Leafs as they went on to defeat the Canucks for a third straight time.

Auston Matthews and Alexander Kerfoot scored eleven second apart in the third period and to put the Leafs up by two. Matthews' goal was the game winner and extended his goal streak to eight games.

Morgan Rielly potted the first goal for the Leafs in the first period.

Frederik Andersen had a stellar outing making 31 saves on the night and completing the three-game sweep of the middling Vancouver Canucks.

Elias Pettersson scored the lone goal for the Canucks and Braden Holtby stopped 16 of 19 shots for the Canucks.

The Canucks will play the Maple Leafs six more times in this season, with the next game taking place March 4 in Vancouver.

The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Vancouver Canucks, again, 3-1.
