Nick Ritchie Smashes Alex Georgiev's Head Splits Eyelid [Video]

Five minutes into the first period Alex Georgiev was forced to leave the Bruins - Rangers game after Nick Ritchie fell on his head, splitting his eyelid and sending him off for concussion protocol. 

Georgiev's injury was the result of a net-front battle between Ritchie and a few Rangers players trying to clear the puck from the crease. Ritchie had a great scoring chance, but was being draped by several players, which, resulted in his legs being swept out from underneath him. This dropped him instantly and put his entire mass onto the head of Georgiev. 

Georgiev was patched up and allowed to stay in the game, but a moment later was pulled for concussion protocol. Everything wasn't as bad as it appeared, because Georgiev was able to return in the second period where he went 31 for 33. 

Charlie Coyle put the Bruins on the board when at 13:19 in the first  period he potted a nice chip shot during the 4-on-4 resulting from the Georgiev incident.

With 1:46 left in the first period Trent Frederic deflected Connor Clifton's shot from the point Putting the Bruins up 2-0.

 Hometown boy, Charlie McAvoy put the Bruins up 3-0 with 10:40 left in the second when he crushed a one-timer through net-front traffic.

Craig Smith gave the Rangers a chance when he took a penalty with 3:51 left in the third. The Rangers pulled Georgiev giving them a 6-on-4, but Charlie Coyle came through and potted his second of the game hitting an empty-netter.

Colin Blackwell scored the Rangers lone goal with 8:54 left in the third.

The Boston Bruins defeated the New York Rangers 4-1.
