Islanders Playing At Coliseum For 2020-21 Season?

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says she has sent a letter to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman urging him to let the Islanders play all of their home games next season at the Nassau Coliseum.

The letter that Laura Curran sent out is as follows:

Commissioner Bettman,

Las year, I urged you to allow our New York Islanders to host playoff games at Nassau Coliseum. You graciously let the team play the first playoff round at The Barn and to no surprise to Isles fans, the team easily swept the series.

Since then, we stood together to finally break ground on a permanent, state-of-the-art home for the Islanders here in Nassau County. The Belmont project will be truly groundbreaking for us, boosting our economy, expanding our public transit network, and most importantly - bringing Long Island's team home for good.

Now with just one year left before the islanders move into their new home at Belmont, I have one last request: let the Islanders play all home games for the 2020-2021 NHL regular season at the Nassau Coliseum. It's what the fans want. It's what the players want. And recent evidence has been clear that when Isles play home games on Long Island, they win.

Let us "Rock The Barn" for one more full and final year.

Thank you for your consideration and partnership always.

Sincerely,

Laura Curran

Not sure if this will move Bettman one way or the other, but it would be nice to see them out of the Barclay Center. That place has the worst ice and layout of all the arenas. It wasn't meant for hockey and no team should have to play there.
